The arithmetic section of the exam contains seventeen questions. The arithmetic questions test your knowledge of basic arithmetic functions.

The types of arithmetic questions that have appeared on past tests include the following:

2) Estimating problems

3) Recognizing equivalent fractions and decimals

5) Problem-solving questions, including problems dealing with measurement, distribution, and rate

Problem solving questions are expressed in words, like a story or narrative, rather than as an arithmetic equations. In problem solving questions on the Accuplacer, you must work out what arithmetic equation is needed in order to solve the problem.
